Testing Using Windows Live Writer to post here

I am trying Windows Live Writer on my Windows 7 laptop. I have used a similar product some years ago, but always seemed to prefer publishing directly from my blog admin section. I decided it’s worth it to try it out again to gain perspective on how different it is now, and how beneficial it might be for some of you to use it if you wish to.

When setting up Writer you only have to input where on the web the blog is read, which is: http://shellfam.com

Then your user name and password. I have turned on the right publishing protocol for using Writer in our Sheller Girls sister blog.

One thing Writer can do is to present your blog post as you write it as it will look on your blog using your theme. Writer tried to do so for this blog, but was unable to do it. That is alright, it still works to write and preview in basic WYSIWYG.

Try it out if you wish.

I have word 2007 and it lets you post to a blog too but I couldn’t get it to work. Maybe it is the posting address that I got wrong. Tell me how you set it up.

Finally I’ve fully moved into Windows 7. I bought a new hard drive along with window 7 pro a couple of months ago but I didn’t have office 2007 so I couldn’t leave windows xp until I bought it. I bought a bootleg copy of office pro 2007 from Hongkong via aliexpress.com for 41.00. It is the same thing being sold on eBay but it is hard to tell it is fake. Just about every kind of software sold on eBay is pirated from Hongkong and since the alibaba.com and its scaled down site aliexpress have exsited it makes it easy to buy this stuff to sell. People can go to jail if they are discovered.

Well, it’s easy to use Windows Live Writer. It’s “free” software from Windows. Windows Live …this and that, like Messenger, too.

You can download an installer for any of the Windows Live … software and install any of it from there.

Also, high likelyhood that you already have it installed on your Windows 7 computer, if not, easy to get from Microsoft.

Start up Writer, find it using Start area, type “writer” it’ll come up if you have indexing turned on (which I do using Win 7, it’s great) and if it is installed on your system. It’ll ask you what you want to publish to basically, choose “other” which is what our blog system is categorized as ( “Word Press” … ) then just fill in the boxes, where the blog is read, http://shellfam.com is the answer. Your actual username, your actual password. It’ll automatically scan through things and set up Writer for that blog. You can add other blog logins too, if you have other blogs you write to. It’s pretty nice, in fact. Easy to setup and use. If you input the wrong password it’ll have failed authentication, which you can fix easily by inputting the right password, for instance, all in all, you just need the right credentials and it should work fine.

I won’t comment much about Office … I must say I’m a GNU liker and use Open Office more than anything, or else I buy a legal copy, which in the case of Office I am going to sooner than later, get the Home & Student version just to get One Note, which I do love, and Word, & some of the future functionality of it all as it inevitably will be needed here and there, but get it on 3 computers legally and get upgrade to 2010 version download in October.

I don’t need or want everything in the Pro suite. Anyhow, I have Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on my laptop FWIW. My desktop computer runs Win XP mostly just because the motherboard can’t support Aero, so what’s the point of upgrading it, none. I did clear an older harddrive and use it to boot Fedora (a GNU LINUX distro) on it though, so it dual-boots Win XP and Fedora in a 64-bit kernel. I also put Ubuntu (another GNU Linux distro) on my old, old, HP laptop. So anyhow Home & Student Office can go on my newer lap & the desktop and another computer, not the old, old HP though, since it has no Windows installation.

I built my current computer a couple of years ago. It has an intel duo CPU 2.2 gz.
When I built it I had Vista ultimate 64 bit but I never used it much because almost none of my software would work on it. I have use outlook email for years and I would have lost all of my email had I used another email program. I have not only family email to keep but all my business records and reciepts are emails too. I like to be legal with my software too but when I first bought this I was unsure. When I received it I went to the Microsoft site about piracy and found out that this was a high quality pirated copy. Everything appeared to be a legitmate retail package of Windows 2007 pro.

Becky out sister told me she downloaded office 2007 enterprise for 10.00 from a government site. It could only be used on one computer.

I love onenote. I downloaded the new 2010 beta. Office pro 2007 doesn’t have it, so I just bought it on eBay for 15.00. I do love the new 2010 office suite but I think I’ll be satified with what I have for a while.
