Wonderland Book

I have a Set on my Flickr account where you can look at all the pages in my new book project, as they are right now (before further embellishment)

I made the book via buying the covers (7Gypsies) then papering the inside of the covers, inking, stamping a flourish all over & then chalking various brown colors on those papers. Next cutting Graphic45 “Hallowe’en in Wonderland” 8×8 paper pack down to fit inside the covers (for a ‘real’ book look paper is 3/16″ smaller than covers.) My covers are 5 1/2″ wide, 7″ tall.

I used a neutral basic cardstock in between each sheet of Graphic45 printed cardstock. On those basic pages I made pockets to hold tags, embellishments, photos, journaling, etc. (I cut a piece of cardstock and glued it down to the page on two sides and the bottom.)

Once all that was ready I bound it using my Bind-It-All machine and 3/4″ O-wire.

    Cool Maisy!
Where do you get all the graphics? Are they stamps? Explain a bit more about this project. I have never done scrapbooking but I have the real old stuff from yesteryear I could copy things from them but I would NEVER use the real thing to cut and paste. So many Godey’s Lady’s books color plates were used as decoupage projects in the 1970’s for lampshades etc. I can scan some of the marbling from 1850 and earlier for you. There is some really cool blue marbling on one of my books. I have lots of graphics and advertisements you would like too.

I have links in the post to help you understand. Graphic45 is a paper company, there are links to their site, the paper style, and the particular pack of paper I bought and used for this project.

I cut that paper into pages and elements, and also used plain cardstock to make the pages inbetween the Graphic45 pages, and put self-pockets on those plain card stock pages. I put some of the Graphic45 paper on those plain card stock pages.

The inside of the covers (front and back) I put some handmade paper I bought in a pack at Costco a few years ago, one type that is textured and used the back side of it (matte where the front was more shiny) and on that I used a stamp of a flourish with Tea Dye distressing ink (a Tim Holtz product) and also wiped a black ink pad down the page a few places lightly, then used chalk (a crafting product) in different colors to distress the page more pleasingly.

I would LOVE the things you are talking about! They would be perfect for scrapbooking & altered art and more. I don’t have a color printer still, but hope to sooner than later so … any more questions I can answer, just ask.

Debbie, I think that the Godey Lady’s books would make excellent reproduction pieces for paper in stationery, scrapbooking, crafting, etc. Do you have any idea if they are copyrighted or not anymore? This is something to do as a business, find the right printer to work with, you or a company. That’s how many companies that are around today started, small, making their own designs or whatever, finding a partner to print the sizes of paper for them that are sold in 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, 12×12 mainly, with the last two sizes the MAIN sizes sold in the craft industry. Retro & Vintage are really “in” and even older is “in” IMO, like Godey’s …
