  • Testing Using Windows Live Writer to post here

I am trying Windows Live Writer on my Windows 7 laptop. I have used a similar product some years ago, but always seemed to prefer publishing directly from my blog admin section. I decided it’s worth it to try it out again to gain perspective on how different it is now, and how beneficial it might be for some of you to use it if you wish to.

When setting up Writer you only have to input where on the web the blog is read, which is: http://shellfam.com

Then your user name and password. I have turned on the right publishing protocol for using Writer in our Sheller Girls sister blog.

One thing Writer can do is to present your blog post as you write it as it will look on your blog using your theme. Writer tried to do so for this blog, but was unable to do it. That is alright, it still works to write and preview in basic WYSIWYG.

Try it out if you wish.

  • Grandpa’s WWI Picture Framed

I bought a frame at Walmart  today thinking that the size and mat could be used for Grandpa’s picture. The total size is 17 x 21. The frame’s opening is 13.5  inches wide by 17.5 inches long with a mat opening of 10.5 inches wide and 13.5 inches long. The frame I got is nice looking. It is a Better Homes and Garden’s frame.

The picture is printed on 11 x 17 photo paper but the actual print is 10 3/4 x 16 4/8. The width of the mat is perfect for the width  but the 13.5  inches length will need to be cut about 2 inches to reveal his shoes and give a little more space above his head. I think I can buy a mat cutter without shelling out a few hundred dollars for a whole kit of tools.

    Tell me what you think.

  • Alice in Wonderland (2010)

Frank and I saw “Alice in Wonderland” in IMAX 3D last evening. It was really good. Are any of y’all planning to see it?

I haven’t seen a lot of IMAX movies, but I know I prefer IMAX to regular theatre showings. This is the first true 3D movie I’ve ever seen. It was really nice.

One of these days in the next few weeks I’ll see it again with my three older children. I’ll enjoy that even more, I think. I love re-watching good movies.

  • Weather & Traveling

We’ve been traveling with Frank last week, and now this week a few days. We haven’t done anything interesting, just the traveling to, eating, staying, going back home sort of thing. It’s interesting just not “interesting” — if that makes sense to y’all.

Spring is sort of here, that is interesting. The Eastern Bluebirds are looking into their nestbox the last few days. I have turned the A/C on a couple of times too. Some plants are starting to pollinate. There was a large thunderstorm in the middle of last night too. One part woke me up, the house of shaking and it was so loud I started thinking of twisters, but it did fade … Frank was up already and did say it was very much like what I heard and he started thinking of the same thing, it was so loud, rushing train-ish … but faded. nothing looks tossed around outside. Just a wicked bunch of lightning.

Weather is warmer but will get colder later this week. It’s an up-down thing in the South, Spring/Winter/Spring/Winter/Summer/Winter/Spring … through to the end of March. We have actually had ice storms after that in the last few years. FWIW

We’ll be going to KY for a day, then back home. We’ll stop in the Smokies for some pictures if we can. (We can get there another way, but like going through the mountains right there, when the weather is good enough for it, as it should be today.

  • Gorgeous View

    Georgia Morning after snow 32

The view up the street from my house on Saturday, February 13, 2010.

Go to my Flickr pages by clicking the photo above, I have uploaded many, many pictures from Friday & Saturday, some are better than others, all of them are outside “snow” pictures. This one is one of my favorites. The others are glowing pictures of the sun coming up behind the snow laden trees in my backyard.

  • I’ve been “published”

High Museum of Art, 8-22-2009 This is a thumbnail that will take you to it’s Flickr page.

Go to the link below to see my credited picture on Schmapp.com as one of the pictures for High Museum of Art. If you click on it you’ll be taken to the photo on my Flickr profile. It’s an honorary credit, no profit beyond that.

Schmapp is a guide site to many places, you can download and print, view, and more their stuff. My photo isn’t spectacular but it is one of my favorite parts of the museum, the walkway out which faces the fence across the street where they put exhibit banners, and the Monet exhibit banner is the primary one viewable in that photo. I love Monet!
